Virtual Robot at Goodison Park helps Everton Fan fulfil his dream
Sam Allardyce saluted young Everton fan Jack McLinden after the Blues’ matchday mascot joined him for his post-match press conference, following the Toffees’ win against Newcastle on 23 April.
Jack was unable to make the game at Goodison Park due to suffering from multiple health conditions, but he could still enjoy the experience of leading out the Toffees against Newcastle United through the use of innovative technology that allowed him to watch through the eyes of a robot.
Representing Jack on the night was AV1, a robot designed and manufactured by Norwegian start-up, No Isolation, with the young Blue watching on at home – a feat that saw Everton make technological and sporting history.
After being led out by Phil Jagielka, Jack – through AV1 – was then brought into the media room at Goodison Park by Blues boss Allardyce to watch on as he was quizzed about his side’s 1-0 win.
And an impressed Allardyce had a message for Jack back at home. “It is a great piece of technology,” he said. “Jack had the full experience today. He went out on the pitch with Jags and he saw everything that went on with the warm-up.
“He also did a piece with Sky so he wanted to finish off in the press conference. If you are listening Jack, well done for the 1-0 win, mate.”
