UEFA opens racism case against BATE Borisov
European governing body UEFA has opened a racism case against Belarusian club BATE Borisov.
Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano reported being racially abused during his side’s Champions League Group H match in Borisov on Tuesday.
After scoring five goals in Shakhtar’s 7-0 win, the Brazilian said: “There were unpleasant shouts, racist ones.”
UEFA has since announced that it has opened disciplinary proceedings against BATE over the ‘racist behaviour of supporters’.
The case is due to be dealt with by UEFA’s disciplinary body at a meeting in Nyon on Thursday November 13.
