Sport Esprit Academy set to launch football academy in India
The Sport Esprit Academy, a UK-based coaching academy providing sports provision in schools, is set to launch a football academy in India next month.
Since launching in Northamptonshire just 18 months ago, the Academy has held events in conjunction with a host of Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Arsenal, and worked alongside a number of well-respected figures such as Dion Dublin, Ugo Ehiogu, Peter Beardsley, Paul Merson and Scott Sinclair.
Now, Anish Khinda, the Academy’s managing director, has decided to launch a series of projects in Asia with the intention of leading the market for football development in India. Kicking off in Delhi, 50 aspiring players aged 16-17 will be given the chance to win a fully paid football scholarship at a youth team set-up in the UK.
“I love the game and have a burning passion for developing youngsters in the best possible way we can as an Academy,” said Anish, who previously played for non-league sides Kettering Town and Chester City, and Al Shabab in Dubai. “With our extensive contacts throughout the professional game across England and Europe, exit routes will be there for players to perform to a level best suited to them.”
During his time as a footballer, the 23-year-old played under former Manchester United manager Ron Atkinson, ex-England international Paul Gascoigne and current Uganda boss Bobby Williamson, and will be using the tips and advice he has gained from them, plus his own experiences, to try and guide youngsters into the professional game.
Anish is a product of Kick It Out’s Mentoring and Leadership project, funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).
