Southampton Solent University Becomes Hampshire FA Football Futures Sponsor
Hampshire FA is delighted to announce a 2 year partnership with Southampton Solent University as the official sponsors of the Hampshire FA Football Futures programme.
Football Futures is a rewards programme for young leaders aged 14-24 years. The programme aims to retain and train leaders through incentives and workshops across six themes to increase their employability and career prospects.
The six key themes include:
– Coaching and Working with teams
– Promoting the Game
– Running and Developing the Game
– Refereeing
– Running Events
– RESPECT Ambassadors
Any young leaders volunteering in football in any capacity are sent a certificate for their personal record of achievement as a means of showcasing their commitment to colleges and potential employers. Football Futures certificates are available in the following milestones: 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 hours and are awarded based on how many hours the young leader has amassed across all six Football Futures themes in one football season.
In 2016, Hampshire FA introduced the Hampshire FA Football Futures Outstanding Young Male Leader and Outstanding Young Female leader award which is presented to two individuals at Hampshire FA’s annual, grassroots football awards ceremony sponsored by the Saints Foundation. The awards aim to recognise two young volunteers for their dedication, commitment and contribution to the grassroots game in Hampshire.
The Football Futures programme is another vehicle for ensuring that students are recognised for their devotion to the game and especially for those that are not currently undertaking a football-related course at University or College, but are still active in an area of the game, contributing resources to ensuring it can sustain, develop and evolve.
Professor Graham Baldwin, Vice-Chancellor of Solent University, said: “Our partnership with the Hampshire FA will allow us to bring our diverse range of football activities together and provide an additional focus for students while on their courses.
“It’s exciting to be involved in something that encourages young people to get involved, volunteer and make a real difference to their community, as well as improving their own prospects, something we believe in strongly as a University.”
Discussing the partnership with Southampton Solent University, Hampshire FA CEO, Neil Cassar, said: “We are delighted to be entering into a partnership with Southampton Solent University which will see the programme in Hampshire for the first time have a partner backing it.
“This is a milestone achievement already and particularly with the amount of work with the University through the Football Leadership Programme and successes achieved with the UEFA Bronze Award achieved, we are showcasing that our work and partnership has even more to offer with this expansion”.
