Premier League and English Football League clubs to host dedicated fixtures this weekend
Three games across the Premier League and Championship will be dedicated to Kick It Out in the run-in for both leagues this weekend as Charlie MacKinnon explains.
The first of the Premier League games sees Stoke City host West Ham United at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday (29 April) afternoon.
A win for the Hammers would see them leapfrog the home side who have lost four of their last five games, despite Slaven Bilic’s men not winning a league game away from home since 4th February. Kick It Out ‘Next 20’ ambassador Jack Butland looks set to make his return for the hosts from long-term injury.
On Sunday (30 April), relegation candidates Swansea City travel to Old Trafford to face Champions League spot chasers Manchester United in what looks to be a crucial game for both teams.
United’s form doesn’t bode well for the Swans, with Jose Mourinho’s men unbeaten in 26 home games. The Red Devils’ will again be without top-scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will miss the rest of the season with injury.
In the Championship, 14th placed Barnsley host Burton Albion on Saturday, with Albion just six points off the relegation places. One statistic in favour of the visitors is that Barnsley haven’t won a league game at home since the 21st January. Nigel Clough’s men are looking for their third straight league win as they look to avoid the drop.
