NUS launches Out in Sport campaign
The National Union of Students (NUS) has launched the Out in Sport campaign, as part of its commitment to tackle homophobia and transphobia in sport.
The campaign aims to understand the sporting experiences of lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) students in further and higher education whilst supporting students’ unions and institutions in making sport more inclusive.
Student views will be gathered through a mixture of surveys and focus groups looking at real and perceived barriers to participation in sports and fitness, as well as ways to overcome them.
The aim of the campaign is to help them make sport more inclusive for LGBT students. The goal is to launch the findings and resulting toolkit at the Olympics.
Students in further or higher education who self-define as LGBT are encouraged to fill out the survey before the end of April. All views are anonymous so you can be as open as you want. To take part, please click here.
