Lord Ouseley comments after Scudamore outcome

Kick It Out has released a statement following the outcome of the hearing faced by Richard Scudamore, Premier League Chief Executive. 

Lord Herman Ouseley, Chair of Kick It Out, said: “Richard Scudamore is one of the most successful and powerful men in world football. The outcome of today’s proceedings into the revealed emails and their contents leaves the status quo intact.

“The process adopted by the Premier League is a flawed one and there was only ever going to be one outcome. It is incumbent on the Premier League to put in place a proper, objective, fair and independent process for dealing with such important matters in future.

“It is also incumbent now on the Chief Executive of the Premier League to establish trust and confidence among the many people in football who believe that there is one rule for them, and another one for those that run the game.

“The Prime Minister stated earlier today that he wouldn’t tolerate these types of comments in his own cabinet. A decision like this and the way it was made reflects the dominance, strength and culture at the very top of the football pyramid.

“There is a certain standard of conduct that football should be promoting across the whole game. It now falls to The Football Association (FA) to establish whether this is a closed matter, the implications of that, and how we move on from here to prevent football from institutionally marginalising certain groups of people.”
