Lord Ouseley awarded honorary degree by De Montfort University
Lord Herman Ouseley was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by De Montford University, at a ceremony held on 27 January 2016.
This the fourteenth Honorary Degree that Lord Ouseley has been awarded by Universities across England and Scotland in recognition of his 50+ years of public service, across local and national government , as well as work with an extensive range of community based voluntary and charitable organisations. Obviously, that includes being the founder of Kick it Out and its honorary Chairperson for the past 22 years.
In his acceptance speech at the ceremony, he said that, “the award gives recognition to the value and importance of public service in Britain and I accept it as a tribute to all the many dedicated people across the country who are pursuing local activities and initiatives to enable people from all backgrounds to live their lives free from the detrimental effects of discrimination, unfair treatment, unequal opportunities and hatred.”
