London debate shining spotlight on social media in football
The One Game, One Community weeks of action kicks off this Thursday (18 October) with the pertinent topic of social media in the game being discussed at Birkbeck Sport Business Centre in London.
Entitled ‘Implementing the Law on, and Policing of, Racial Abuse in the Age of Twitter and Social Media: An Impossible Job?’, the roundtable debate will see a distinguished panel including representation from the Crown Prosecution Service and a leading law firm talk about the challenges faced by football in ensuring that the law on combating racial abuse is applied effectively in this new era of social media.
