Lincolnshire FA Futsal School Games Event
221 children from schools across Lincolnshire competed in the Lincolnshire FA Futsal Level 3 School Games Finals at the Mere’s Leisure Centre in Grantham on 13 March.
The event was supported by Kick It Out to help raise awareness of the campaign’s efforts in making the game for all and kicking every form of discrimination out of football.
This season’s Futsal Finals saw the Lincolnshire FA make the decision to grow and expand the tournament to incorporate more schools, boys and girls, as well as under 12’s and under 14’s.
Each School Sports Partnership (SSP) across Lincolnshire were tasked with running inter-mural Level 2 school competitions leading up to the finals, meaning each SSP would have a school competing in all competitions available.
The standard of Futsal on the day was impressive with goals being scored in every which way. All schools behaved impeccably on the day, adhering to the RESPECT programme, making the finals a thoroughly enjoyable event for all.
Chris Funnell, Lincolnshire Football Development Officer, said: “It was fantastic to work with Leanne Woodhead, Football Development Officer for Inclusion at Lincolnshire FA, and Kick It Out on this event to showcase the really important work that’s constantly ongoing to ensure football within this county is free of discrimination and a game that can be enjoyed by all.”
The winners of the competition in the separate age categories will go on to represent Lincolnshire at the FA Regional Youth Futsal Festival in April.
