Leicester Nirvana fans set to visit the King Power Stadium thanks to Fans For Diversity
Supporters from grassroots side Leicester Nirvana Football Club have been given the opportunity to watch their team play in the Leicestershire County Challenge Cup final thanks to the Fans For Diversity (FFD) campaign.
The final is being held at the King Power Stadium, home of newly-crowned Premier League champions Leicester City, and the FFD Fund has provided Leicester Nirvana fans with a number of tickets to attend the match. Supporters have also been given fan clappers for the game, while the players will warm up in FFD t-shirts.
The FFD campaign was jointly launched by Kick It Out and the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) in March 2014. The campaign runs regular events aimed at encouraging and helping with the facilitation of fan-related activity that celebrates equality and diversity in football.
Zak Hajat, who is the Secretary and Vice Chair of Leicester Nirvana, expressed his excitement for the final and was grateful for the support given to their fans.
“The cup final at the home of the Premier League champions will be a great occasion for the club,” he said. “It’s great that we have received support from Kick It Out and Fans For Diversity, which will enable us to bring the whole club together to enjoy the experience of playing at the King Power Stadium.”
The Challenge Cup is Leicestershire County FA’s elite competition that involves teams from Step 3 to Step 6 of the non-league pyramid system that are affiliated in the county. The final will see Leicester Nirvana take on current holders Barwell FC on Tuesday 17th May, at 7.45pm.
