Lazio players wear 'No Racism' shirts
Lazio duo Federico Marchetti and Stefano Mauri wore shirts bearing the slogan ‘No Racism’ for their Serie A match with Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Rome club were given permission by the Italian football authorities to change their shirts, six days after Tottenham Hotspur fans attending a Europa League tie in the Italian capital were injured in an alleged antisemitic attack by Lazio hooligans.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito visited Spurs fan Ashley Mills, who remains in an Italian hospital following the attack, earlier today. And Lotito told press the attacks had nothing to do with supporters of his club.
“Lazio fans are not racist and this incident had nothing to do with football or sport,” he said.
