A New York based football film festival is coming to London next month. Kicking and Screening, will host its UK debut festival at the Everyman Cinemas in Hampstead, Belsize Park, Baker Street and Screen on the Green Islington.
The festival, curated by actor and author, Tom Watt, will kick off September 23 and run through September 29, screening the ‘best films about the world’s greatest game’, including a
special screening of Soka Afrika, a film focussing on the trafficking of African footballers into Europe.
Its success inspired a second in 2010 and also satellite festivals in Washington DC, Houston, Boston and, most recently, Amsterdam. The third annual K&S/New York festival will be staged at the world-famous Tribeca Cinemas this month.
The schedule combines premieres, classics, foreign language features and shorts.
