Kick It Out support Vision West Nottinghamshire College tournament
Kick It Out visited Vision West Nottinghamshire College on Wednesday 14 June to show support towards and Equality and Diversity themed tournament.
Hayley Bennett, Kick It Out’s Education Officer, was joined by Lyndon Roberts, Kick It Out’s Professional Clubs Regional Officer for the North as they attended the West Notts United Equality and Diversity Football Tournament, which focused on raising awareness of sexual orientation, gender, race and disability.
With the tournament focusing on encouraging a diverse and welcoming environment for all – a number of men’s, women’s and Ability Counts teams took part in the competition. The event was also backed by a number of local colleges, partner organisations and grassroots teams from the surrounding area.
Information stalls providing further detail on the topics of discussion throughout the day were also set up inside the college to provide participants with a further understanding of equality and diversity away from the workshops and tournament.
Reflecting on the event, Hayley was delighted Kick It Out could support a tournament promoting diversity at a local level.
“It was fantastic for Lyndon and I to attend the West Notts United Equality and Diversity Football Tournament and see the fantastic work the students are doing to promote the right messages.
“It was an insightful day as we were able to speak to many of the participants about not only the work Kick It Out does, but how they can spread messages of equality and inclusion within their own community.”
