Kick It Out statement on Jamie Vardy

Kick It Out has issued a statement following an announcement by Leicester City FC yesterday (13 August) that striker Jamie Vardy has been handed a substantial fine and ordered to undertake a diversity awareness programme after allegations of a racist nature featured in the national press recently.

The statement from Kick It Out reads: “Kick It Out notes the outcome of the swift investigation undertaken by Leicester City FC into allegations made against striker Jamie Vardy in the national press last weekend.

“The club have once again acted promptly and decisively in conducting their investigation since this emerged, and in accordance with their procedures, have taken the appropriate action against Vardy as his employer.

“We note Vardy made a swift apology and are happy to offer support on the delivery of diversity awareness training. We will continue to work closely with the club on matters concerning equality, inclusion and anti-discrimination.”
