Kick It Out statement on Dynamo Kiev punishment
Kick It Out welcomes today’s action by Uefa ordering Dynamo Kiev to play their next two European home games behind closed doors, following racist attacks on fans during a Champions League game against Chelsea last month.
The Ukrainian club will play a third match in an empty stadium if they re-offend in the next three years, while they have also been fined £70,000.
Lord Herman Ouseley, Kick It Out Chairman, said: “This strong approach is supported by Kick It Out and sends out a message that this type of disgraceful behaviour will not be tolerated.
“Our colleagues at Fare deserve credit for raising the incident and for their continued visibility at European games.
“Kick It Out condemns the behaviour caught on video by Fare but we were particularly concerned as the incident took place at a game involving an English club.
“We firmly believe fans should feel safe to watch football and this type of robust punishment sends out a positive message to clubs around Europe.”
