Kick It Out statement on alleged racist incident at Millwall
Kick It Out has released the following statement after an alleged racist incident during The Football Association’s (FA) Cup Fourth Round tie between Millwall and Watford on Sunday 29 January.
The statement reads: Following an incident of alleged racial abuse directed at Watford’s Jerome Sinclair during yesterday’s FA Cup fixture at Millwall, Kick It Out reported the incident to The FA, in line with the organisation’s usual reporting procedures.
Kick It Out has contacted Millwall to see what actions have and will be taken. The organisation has also offered support to Sinclair via Watford.
Kick It Out was disappointed to receive a report as everyone in football will agree and this incident needs to be investigated fully. Prejudice needs to be removed from football and those who participate in such hatred must be punished for their wrongdoing.
The organisation encourages supporters to report discrimination immediately, either using Kick It Out’s reporting app or by reporting directly to the club, to ensure the individuals involved can be identified.
