Kick It Out choose Everycolour competition winners
Kick It Out helped support the final stage of the Everycolour project for 2017 by choosing the winners of the blogging and commentating competitions held.
The Everycolour project aims to connect with primary schools in the Manchester region to help spreading the theme of unity across all football fans regardless of club, community or background.
Hayley Bennett and Paul Mortimer, Kick It Out’s Education Officer and Professional Players Engagement Manager respectively, were given the task of judging this year’s competitions, which focused around the Women’s European Championships played in the Netherlands.
Hayley selected the best entries for the team blogging competition. Throughout the project, schools participating in Everycolour were given the task of coming up with creative ideas on how to promote the messages of equality and inclusion.
After all the entries were assessed Hayley chose Broad Oak Primary School’s ‘Keep The Colours Within You’ effort as the winner.
Hayley explained her process of choosing Broad Oak’s effort as the winner: “As predicted, this was really hard – everyone produced a fantastic standard! I looked through the Blog several times and then picked out a shortlist of 12 of my favourite entries.”
Paul judged the best entries for the commentating competition run through the project. After listening to a number of entries, Paul chose the Barcelona Black Cats from Cavendish Primary School.
Paul gave his reason for selecting the Barcelona Black Cats as the winners.
“It’s a tough one, but I chose the winners for an informative and engaging effort. They knew their players and were up with the pace of the game in their commentary, a fine performance.”
