Kick It Out auction winner reflects on his ‘brilliant’ prize
Kick It Out’s inaugural charity golf day and auction on October 25 to mark 20 years of campaigning spawned a thrilling Champions League evening for one lucky prize winner in north London this week.
Jay Stocks, an analyst from London, struck lucky in the auction bagging four tickets to attend Arsenal’s tie with French giants, Marseille, last night (26 November) at the Emirates Stadium.
“It was brilliant,” said Jay. “The game had it all; goals, a missed penalty from Mesut Ozil and clearances off the line. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.”
Taking place at Brocket Hall, one of the UK’s premier golf courses, in association with Noble House Properties, the event attracted a host of TV and sports personalities, including former swimmer Mark Foster and SkySports presenter Rob Palmer.
Once the competitors showed off their skills on the course, they then enjoyed an auction and a three course dinner to conclude the day.
Jay’s step dad, who is a keen golfer, won the tickets at the auction and decided to give them to Jay, who believes organisations such as Kick It Out are vital in football.
He said: “We cannot go back to the days where players such as John Barnes were having bananas thrown at them, we have to stay on top of discrimination.
“Over the past few years, we have seen cases that have shown that there is still much work to be done throughout the world of football, so it is important Kick It Out has a strong presence.”
