“Important for people to take it seriously” – grassroots consultation
The story of Andrea Quaintmere is one which can resonate with many parents up and down the country.
Her child’s love of the beautiful game meant she became involved in grassroots football, mucking in wherever needed – from League meetings to fundraising and welfare – to help keep her club going.
To improve the grassroots game, Andrea filled out Kick It Out’s grassroots consultation, to ensure her voice can be heard.
“The survey’s important just to make sure that people take grassroots football seriously. It addresses historical processes that need updating,” she explained.
“It’s also important for the young players themselves to do the consultation, they don’t always get a chance to have their voice heard.
“There’s a culture at that level where those who shout the loudest or if someone’s aggressive, for example, are the only ones being heard.”
The survey will take just a few minutes of your time, you don’t have to give your name, and if you’re involved in grassroots football it hands the power to you to help shape the game’s future.
“These consultations are good,” added Andrea. “They help Kick It Out understand key issues. Then they can narrow down and prioritise certain aspects to work on in the future.”
