Henry speaks of his role in football's campaigns against racism
Thierry Henry has spoken of his pride at being at the forefront of football’s campaigns to combat discrimination.
Henry, who signed for Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls last week, was asked about his role in the fight against racist abuse.
He explained: “I can’t take credit for this, but it’s always good to raise awareness, to say no to racism. Before, players were hearing stuff and not saying anything.”
Henry also spoke of his understanding of the issue in the US. “I don’t really know how it is here,” Henry said about racial relations in U.S. sports. “But I never heard of anything bad, and that’s great.”
