Grimsby Town produce special Kick It Out programme cover ahead of dedicated fixture
As part of Grimsby Town’s on-going support of Kick It Out, the club and their community programme, GTSET, have commissioned a special illustrated cover of The Mariner for their fixture against Carlisle United on Saturday 18th November.
The cover, which features players of different ethnicities from both sides, was created to encapsulate some of the key themes of Kick It Out’s message.
Grimsby’s Programme Editor, Jack Johnson, who thought up the concept, said: “When I was talking with Adie from Grimsby Town Sports & Education Trust (GTSET) about what we could do to acknowledge Kick It Out’s work in the game, we agreed that it would be cool to incorporate some of their key themes in the illustration on the programme cover.”
“And, obviously I’m a bit biased, but I think it came out really well! Hopefully it’ll help raise awareness for their organisation.”
Grimsby Town Sport & Education Trust (GTSET) have been big supporters of the Kick It Out over the years and tomorrow’s game against Carlisle United has been chosen as a dedicated fixture to help raise awareness.
With so many people likely to pick up a copy of the club’s award-winning programme, The Mariner, it’s hoped that even more people are going to be aware of one of football’s most important organisations.
GTSET’s involvement with the campaign doesn’t just stop there though, as Adie Merrikin explains: “The programme we offer has been very carefully put together with resources from the Football League Trust and Kick it Out.”
“We’ve worked in several schools, Academies and referral units over the years – some being in the most deprived areas not just in North East Lincolnshire but in the United Kingdom.”
