FA to host Referee Diversity Networking Event
The Football Association (FA) and the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) will host a Referee Diversity Networking Event at St George’s Park on Sunday 7 May.
The event follows on from the first Referee Diversity Forum held in partnership by Kick It Out, The FA and the PGMOL in February at Leyton Orient. Read more on the first event here.
As part of the FA and PGMOL’s on-going commitment to diversity and promoting opportunities for referees from all backgrounds, the event will provide attendees the opportunity to hear from, and interact with, refereeing ‘role models’ from diverse backgrounds.
Confirmed guest speakers so far include Mike Riley, former Premier League referee and current PGMOL General Manager, and Neale Barry, the FA’s Head of Refereeing. A number of active PGMOL referees and members of the FA’s senior leadership team are also expected to be in attendance.
The event will also allow attendees to network with other referees from varying levels, gain an understanding of the opportunities open to referees and also find out more about the work currently being undertaken by the FA and County FAs to increase diversity in officiating.
