FA chief executive resigns
Ian Watmore has resigned as chief executive of the Football Association, it has been announced.
A spokesman for the FA confirmed the news on Monday evening. FA chairman Lord Triesman also said Watmore had tendered his resignation on Friday.
In a statement released on the FA website, he added: “I asked him [Watmore] to re-consider over the weekend.
“However, he has confirmed today that his position remains unchanged and I have accepted it with great regret. There will be a board meeting tomorrow at noon.
“I am unable to make any further comment until after that meeting.”
