England trio support Kick It Out’s ‘Season of Action’
Wayne Rooney, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and Andros Townsend have all given their support to Kick It Out’s ‘Season of Action’ ahead of England’s friendly fixture against Italy this evening (Tuesday 31 March).
The Three Lions trio, who are all included in Roy Hodgson’s squad for the match at Juventus Stadium, Turin, gave their backing to the organisation’s initiative which is shining a spotlight on grassroots and community activity.
In the short videos, England and Manchester United captain Rooney, Arsenal winger Chamberlain and Tottenham Hotspur star Townsend encourage viewers to download the Kick It Out app – available for FREE on the App Store and Google Play.
The app, which features a reporting facility, is one of several ways that incidents of discrimination can be reported to the organisation. Statistics released earlier this month for the midway point of the season revealed a 35% increase on reports of discrimination sent to Kick It Out.
The app was the most-used mechanism when it came to reporting incidents from within the professional game, responsible for 27% of reports. A full breakdown of the reporting statistics can be found here.
