England duo take part in The FA Girls' Football Festival
England and Arsenal duo Ellen White and Jordan Nobbs joined forces with The Football Association to take part in the recent FA Girls’ Football Festival.
The event in Netherton, open to girls aged five to 17 took place, was organised by the Northants FA and Hunts FA and sponsored by Continental Tyres.
Ellen White said: “For us to come here as role models we take that very seriously, it’s great be here and meet the girls and to talk to them – and to see how much they love playing football really.”
Meanwhile, White’s Arsenal teammate Jordan Nobbs added: “When I was growing up you didn’t have things like this around, so it’s always good to be able to see all these girls here and they get the opportunity to meet people and challenge themselves against other teams. I love coming here and being a part of it.”
Girls were encouraged to take part in a number of activities and events on the day – including an inflatable pitch, target shots, speed cage and batak boards.
Lucy May, a referee ambassador for The FA added: “It’s really important to show them that the opportunities are around and that it’s not only about competing in different environments, it’s actually about having fun, playing against different teams and meeting new people.”
