Dumfries football supporter jailed for sectarian remark
A Dumfries football fan has been jailed for fifty days after shouting a sectarian remark at last month’s match between Queen of the South and Rangers at Palmerston.
29-year-old Darren Scott admitted expressing hatred towards a religious group, and had been remanded in custody since appearing at Dumfries Sheriff Court on the 11th of May, two days after the match.
It was stated that a flare had been let off and had landed near Scott and police in the area heard him shouting his comment.
Sheriff Brian Mohan pointed out to Scott that he had an appalling record, though nothing of an analogous nature and he back dated the sentence to May 11.
