Black Collective Of Media In Sport launch guide addressing diversity in sports media
The first guide designed to address the lack of diversity in the sports media has been launched by the Black Collective Of Media In Sport (BCOMS) titled ‘the D Word’.
BCOMS, a network of sports media professionals from African and Caribbean communities, have published the guide thanks to funding from FARE Network, with the aim offering thoughts and potential actions on how to encourage and increase diversity among the field.
Contributions to the guide have been taken from a national conference held by BCOMS in London last year.
The conference saw heads of sports channels, editors, producers, writers and representatives from across the sports media came together to debate and discuss how best to address the lack of diversity in the industry.
