Bedfordshire FA’s Pan-Disability Football group honoured at Houses of Parliament
Members of Bedfordshire FA’s Pan-Disability Football group visited the Houses of Parliament to be honoured for their contribution to the sport.
They were nominated for the Just Play Awards 2016 from thousands of groups across the country.
Recreational Football Officer Josh Spavins and Playing the Game Manager James Petty were joined by Alec Hill and Jamie Edwards, two participants who have commitment and passion for the game.
They came away with the main award of the evening, which was presented by Andy Dyke from the National FA. He announced Beds FA was being recognised for outstanding contribution and commitment to the Just Play programme.
Josh Spavins said “Winning this award is a fantastic achievement by the whole team, who have worked so hard over the last five years to ensure everybody who wants to just turn up and play can get involved in football, regardless of ability.
“Our Pan-Disability group has proved incredibly popular and one of our teams made it to the national finals of the FA Peoples’ Cup.
“This achievement results from the hard work, commitment and passion for recreational football across Bedfordshire and I would like to thank all those who have taken part and who continue to ensure that football is accessible to all.”
Just Play offers the casual footballer a chance to just turn up to a venue and play football. Beds FA offer sessions for all adults over the age of 16, for both men and women, regardless of ability or disability.
