Anwar Uddin wins at Asian Football Awards 2015
The third Asian Football Awards took place at Wembley Stadium last week (Thursday 19 November).
The 2015 awards saw players, coaches and professionals from across the game recognised at the ceremony.
Former professional footballer Anwar Uddin, who is now the Diversity and Campaigns Manager at the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF), collected the Behind the Scenes Award.
Anwar works out of the Kick It Out offices in London and leads on the ‘Fans For Diversity’ campaign which see the FSF and Kick It Out engaging with supporters across all levels of the game.
He said: “It’s brilliant to be recognised and is a huge honour to win this award. The Asian Football Awards is about celebrating the role models in Asian Football.
“It means a lot to be recognised as one of them, especially now that my playing days are over. I am now experiencing a change of culture, working full time, doing proper office work, sending emails, travelling up and down the country, after 15 years of playing the game.
“This is a far cry from when I started out at West Ham United. I’m actually quite surprised to have won. It is a great accolade. There is a lot of great work done in the community and behind the scenes. Things can only get better from here. Well done to all the nominees.”
