Anwar Uddin signs for Barnet
Former Dagenham & Redbridge captain Anwar Uddin has signed for League Two side Barnet.
Uddin, one of only a handful of British Asian players in the Football League, made more than 200 appearances for Dagenham over the years and was part of the squad that won promotion to the Football League.
Injuries were a problem last season and 28-year-old Uddin missed out at Wembley against Rotherham United. His final game for Dagenham was the 4-1 win over Barnet towards the end of last season.
Barnet boss Mark Stimson is expected to name Uddin as his new captain. Stimson said: “He is a strong defender with good experience and will be a big part of our team.”
The 6ft 2in Uddin was a former West Ham United youth player and also played for Bristol Rovers before joining the Daggers.
