A.S.P.I.R.E. member Karan supports Herefordshire's No Prejudice group
A.S.P.I.R.E. ambassador Karan Rai joined members of the county’s No Prejudice team raised awareness of the campaign at an event in Hereford city centre.
The group gathered in High Town on Saturday 23 September where they gave out wristbands, badges, t-shirts and offered advice for those who have been affected by prejudice or those who may like to volunteer for the campaign.
Karan and the group were joined throughout the day by various groups including Deaf Direct, the Autism Society and West Mercia Police.
The Herefordshire Council run No Prejudice campaign aims to make it clear that prejudice, in whatever form it manifests itself, should not be tolerated by anyone.
Speaking after the event Karan commented:
“It was a real pleasure representing Kick It Out and A.S.P.I.R.E. in my hometown of Hereford at the ‘No Prejudice in Herefordshire’ event on Saturday.
“What was incredibly warming was the enthusiasm, interest and positivity displayed by the general public toward the event, who were keen to understand more about the work A.S.P.I.R.E. and Kick It Out conduct in the football industry. There is real reason to feel positive about the future, however there were also times when I had to listen to difficult personal stories people had encountered.
“There is still a lot of work to do, but with the determination and energy I experienced from the people on Saturday, I believe we can take significant strides toward tackling racism and discrimination within the county.”
