8372 Tournament to commemorate 22nd anniversary of Srebrenica genocide
The 8372 football tournament will commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide – where 8372 Muslim Bosniak men and boys were killed.
Taking place on Wednesday 12 July, the 8372 football tournament aims to unite young people across Britain playing football in memory of the in the Srebrenica genocide.
Supported by Kick It Out, Chelsea and Bosnian goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, The FA and the English Schools Football Association, Remembering Srebrenica will invite schools and youth groups to participate by holding a football match or tournament to join thousands of others across the UK standing up to hatred and intolerance.
All participating groups will receive free resources including the Remembering Srebrenica book, stickers for all participants and a short explanatory speech to be read out before kick-off. As part of the remembrance, it is requested that a minute’s silence is held before all matches to remember the victims of hatred.
Remembering Srebrenica are hoping schools across the country will join in the commemorative tournament.
